Interesting to see Camp Tecumseh mentioned, I was a camper there for many years!
It makes sense living in a constructed environment like that could inspire your design interest. I wonder other places that relate to growing up in an imagined reality. Disney kids? Growing up in one of those tight knit planned communities? What else? Maybe there are smaller examples too, like a kid growing up on a military base.
Being a camper there was interesting, my memories are very fond. From meeting people I’m still friends with to experiencing some of the places that you mentioned, and the lore that’s associated with places—both from the camp and before. The latter part helps with that magical feeling of being there.
